Last week my classmates and I practiced creative visualization. A very fun and exciting excercise of looking into future we want to see come to fruition. The scene is set 3 years from now. Each of us shared our hopes and dreams. Two stories that really resonated with me the most were Heather Meyer and Tim Coffin’s. Both of them reflected on positive outcomes while acknowledging some difficulties along the way.
Heather wrote about the time she found herself back at MCAD to compete her Masters in Sustainable Design and finding her purpose in the program. I immediately identified with the feeling. Heather also wrote about achieving her dreams of combining all of skills with things she loves to do. Traveling, being with people and being happy. She spoke about publishing a book, being on the road coaching people around the country how to lead through change. At the highlight of her success, Heather received the invite to speak at a TED conference. Wow. I can’t be more happy for her. I think a nice surprise would be to go and attend the TED TALKS and support her, reminiscent about our time at MCAD.

Tim wrote a beautiful post about moving his family ocean side, waking up to waves and songs of tropical birds. Again, I identified with this feeling immediately. That’s what I personally dream of, and seeing someone else dream of it makes it feel less surreal. Tim writes of finding the happy place, about being present in the space and enjoying everything life and nature have to give. Lastly, he reflects on his life’s work achievement, the business and inspiring culture he built from ground up. Surrounded by family, colleagues and friends Tim’s business was nominated for Top 10 Business to Work For in 2020. Those who dream do. Tim’s determination and hard work have inspired me from beginning. I couldn’t be more happy for him and his family.
